DOWNTOWN DALLAS ROOFTOP
This picture is depicts me looking out into the city where I grew up: Dallas, TX. A friend once introduced me to this rooftop in downtown Dallas and from that point on it had a special place in my heart. This spot in Dallas is special to me because it reminds me of where I come from and allows me to peacefully stare into the beautiful city I spent the first nineteen years of my life in. This rooftop is extremely hidden so only a handful of people know about it, which has made it a calming place for me to digest. This spot in Dallas gives me privacy to take deep breaths and explore deeply into my own thoughts. Besides my own home, there aren't many places to escape reality, which is why I consider this place an important part of my community.

This picture is from a photoshoot I did on the rooftop when I was looking to create a cover photo for my latest music release. When I look for cover photos for my music releases, I tend to look for something powerful or that represents a part of me. I had hoped to capture a moment that depicted me and my hometown, which is exactly what this represents. There was also something empowering about standing against my city, which is a feeling I won't forget.

Another reason why this rooftop represents a part of my community is the memories I have made here with friends. Most of my friends back home have been in my life since I was five years old. I have introduced a lot of them to this rooftop and it has become a special hangout spot for us. Considering I was one of the first of my friends to discover this place, I love seeing the astonished look on their faces when I open up the hidden door that leads to this rooftop. Their reaction is always a sense of shock by the incredible view. Being able to share a space that is significant to me with people who truly matter in my life always gives me a sense of fulfillment. It has now become a special place for all of us. We have gathered here before to have mental health talks and to share stories late at night. Having a quiet place to enjoy the view of Dallas and spend quality time with friends has made this place a piece of my home.
